Grocery Store Proposal
The retail store I have chose to build and design for this project is a grocery store. This store will become the largest grocery store in the town of Somerset. The store will have competition against Stop and Shop. The store will stand at 50 feet tall, and will go back 1,000 feet. It will be constructed in the south side of town. This location will provide for an effective spot for shoppers to have access to. The store will be accessible from the highway as well. Customers from around the area, and bordering towns can easily get to my store because of its great location. The store will consist of a big area for customers to shop for their goods. The store will consist of a big storage/ prep area in the back as well. No customers will ever come to my store where the shelves are not efficient and stocked well. My store will provide a public restroom in the front near the checkout area. Each restroom will consist of three toilets. The restrooms will also have three granite top sinks. My store on the first day it opens will allow for the customers to see how much better my store will be than Stop and Shop. The grocery store will be affordable by all citizens of Somerset. Even if you are low on money, you will still be able to get a lot of foods and necessities at my store, compared to the product prices of Stop and Shop. My store will be like no other grocery store around. It will provide for the best food shopping experience around. My store, wall to wall, will provide for music for the shoppers to listen to as they shop. The experience at this store will be stress free. It will allow for customers to be able to come to my store, and relax. My store is very customer friendly. This store, not only is customer friendly, but is also worker friendly. All of my workers will enjoy their short shifts while they wish to work here. No shift is longer than five hours. I have hired a ton of workers to provide for a fresh group of efficient workers all of the time. My workers have all been approved by me to make sure that they are good workers, and are respectful to each other and my customers. My store will consist of a large sign in the front and center of the building stating the name of my store. This sign will also consist of the logo. It is placed largely, in the front and center, to act as a marketing campaign to get customers to my store. The store will consist of an two automatic enter doors, and two automatic exit doors also. My store will consist of several glass windows in the front to allow for a decent amount of light to shine in and light up the store. The windows will not be too big, and are reasonable in size. Throughout the sides of each wall of my store, there will also consist of many of the same windows. The outer surface of the building will consist of brown siding. This brown siding will give the building a more modern look. The siding is also a cheaper alternative than other usable materials. The inside of the store will have several powerful point lights in which will provide for a shopping experience which customers will have no troubles finding the foods and products they need. The floor in the store will consist of white tiles. These tiles will allow for easy cleaning if something were to spill on the floor, and are very cheap to purchase. My store will consist of many aisles of efficient stocks of food. Each aisle will consist of two sides, with three stocking shelves on each side. There will be eight checkout stations for customers to finalize and pay for their cheap foods they have bought at the store. Each checkout station will be efficient with a cashier, and a bagger to provide for a quick checkout time. My store is very efficient in the parking lot as well. It provides for a large sized paved lot with several handicap spots in the front. This store allows for all types of people to shop. The handicapped people that will come here to shop will have no troubles finding the foods they need. They can even chose to have one of our friendly workers bring and unload their purchases to their car. My store is like no others since we have designed our shopping carts to be safer for the cars if someone were to leave their cart in the parking lot. Our carts will have an outer cushioned area to prevent damage. It will be bordered with a softer material so if the cart were to hit a car, it would leave no damage. This store will be the best grocery store around. My store one ups any other grocery store in the area in every single category from top to bottom.

This picture above shows the original design of the outer surface of the grocery store I made. The other surface consists of dimensions that equal 50,000 square feet. This design consists of dimensions that are 50 feet wide by 1,000 feet long. The front of the design consists of the doors that the customers will enter and leave through. These doors are placed on the opposite side of each other. Each side of the front wall consists of two doors that are the same size. These doors are original doors with a wooden frame. In between the two sets of doors there are six windows. These windows are lined up slightly above the height of the doors. The windows are traditional designs and windows with a basic frame. These windows allow light to get into the store. It will provide for sun light to get into the store to provide better lighting in the grocery store. I will continue to better my design once I add the last outer wall to my design. The outer walls will give the viewers a better view as to what the grocery will look like.
This picture shows the original design of what the outer area of my design will look like. The design shows the original dimensions of the grocery store walls. These dimensions of the walls are 50 feet by 1,000 feet. The dimensions equal an area of 50,000 square feet. These walls in this picture do not have the large enough height to house such a store. The walls came in as 10 feet high. I had to then go to properties and fix the height of each wall. Each wall was moved from having 10 feet of height to 20 feet of height. Once the dimensions of the walls are set I can then move on to adding doors and windows to the design. This design will consist of many different doors and windows. These doors and windows will be the second step in designing the grocery store.
This picture shows my design from the front view. It shows the two doors that I have on the left side of my drawing. These doors are the two exits doors that shoppers would leave through once they are done shopping. To the right of the doors are the windows that are located throughout the front of my design. There are twenty-five windows located throughout the front of the design.
This picture above shows what my drawing most previously has looked like. I have most recently added in a slab for the floor. The purple bordering shown above is the floor slab that I added. After I inserted the floor slab into my drawing, I then tried to add materials into my drawing. When I went to add a ceramic tile into my drawing it showed on the screen that it was not able to be inserted into the drawing. This was a huge issue in the flow of my project. I will now have to continue to play around with the computer so that way it allows me to insert materials into my drawing.
The picture shown above shows what my design looks like at this step in the process. This step was started when I decided to add in two bathrooms to the front left of my store. The bathrooms that I created consist of two doors in the front of each room. The bathrooms have not been designed on the interior yet. After I added these two base rooms to be the bathrooms, I then decided to create eleven checkout registers throughout the front of the store. These were created by me inserting eleven equal rectangular shapes. These shapes were created by some walls being brought together. The eleven walls are evenly distributed to give good proportion to the front of the store. These eleven register lines give the store some more look on the interior side of things. Viewers now get to see the improvements that have been made in the front of my store.
This picture shown above shows what the storage unit of my grocery store looks like. The image shows where the products that are delivered to my store are stored. This back section of my store consists of ten long shelves. These long shelves are here to store all of the products that are not ready to sell to the public yet. Each of the long shelves have a width of five feet, a base height of eight feet, and a length of about sixty two feet. Around the whole outer area of the drawing, there are shelves. These shelves are here to help with storing more products in the back. The shelves on the wall closest to the actual store are broken up into five sections. Within the broken up sections there are four normal doors that lead to the actual store. These doors are where the employees bring the products from the back storage unit, to the store to stock them on the shelves. The shelves closest to the bottom of the storage unit are broken up into three sections. These three sections are where most products can be stored. The three sections in the back consist of two doors in which the products are brought through the two doors to be kept in the back storage unit.
This picture shows what the back of my actual store looks like. The image shown above shows that the doors at the bottom of the picture are where the employees come through to deliver new products from the back section. Above the doors that are for the employees are shelves. These shelves store lots of food for the customers to purchase. Each of the averaged sized shelves that are shown horizontally are five feet wide, eight feet base height, and a seventy foot length. These shelves are close together so that way the customer can get through my store in no time. To the right of those averaged sized shelves are the shelves that are vertical. Each of these to the right side of the drawing, are vertical. The shelves consist at the end of the averaged sized aisles. These vertical shelves are five feet wide, eight feet for a base height, and forty one feet as its length. The shelf that is shown below the averaged shelves and the vertical shelves is the largest horizontal shelf in the store. Its dimensions are a five foot width, an eight foot base height, and about a ninety four foot length. The shelves that are above the doors to the storage in the back are broken up into five sections. These five sections consist of four doors. The four doors are where the employees come in and out with new products. There are also shelves on the sides of my store. The dimensions of the side shelves are five feet in length, eight feet base height, and a two hundred and thirty four foot length. These shelves are the longest shelves in the store. By these shelves being this long, it allows for the most products to be stored on them. These shelves are easily accessible. They allow for all of the products to be easily purchased.
This picture above shows what the front of my store looks like. The front of my store consists of eleven cash registers. These cash registers are lined up with each other. The eleven cash registers are here to allow for a quick checkout. Each of the registers consist of a fifteen foot width, a three foot base height, and a four foot length. To the left of the registers, are the two bathrooms. These bathrooms are sort of small, but serve the need to the shopping customers. Each bathroom consists of an entrance door and an exit door. Below the bathrooms are where the shelves first start. Directly under the bathrooms is the first shelve. It is the third smallest shelf in the entire store. To the left of that shelf is the longest shelf in the store. It runs from the bottom of the restrooms all the way until the end of the store in which is open to the public. The first shelf that customers will see when they walk in my store, is the five foot wide, eight foot in base height, and a seventy foot length shelf. This shelf that the customers will see is only one of twelve. To the right of those twelve horizontal shelves are the four vertical shelves. Each of the vertical shelves help lead the customers to the next aisle of shopping. These vertical shelves consist of five feet in width, eight feet in base height, and forty one feet in length. These shelves that are at the end of each aisle give the reader more of a variety of products. For every three horizontal shelves, it is equivalent to one vertical shelf in its length. To the right of the vertical shelves, is the second tallest shelf in the store. Its dimensions are five feet in width, eight feet in base height, and two hundred and thirty four feet in length. This shelf can hold a lot of products for the customers to look at.
The picture above shows what my design looks like after all of my details have been added. The front wall of the store has four doors. Besides the four doors in the front of the store, there are twenty five windows. These windows allow for enough sunlight to travel into the store, giving enough light for the shoppers to see. Behind the front wall of the store, there is another wall which has four more doors. These four doors allow you to enter and exit the store. Through these doors, are eleven registers. The eleven registers allow for an efficient checkout spot for the customers. The registers have dimensions of a fifteen foot width, a three foot base height, and a four foot length. To the side of the registers, are the two bathrooms for the customers to have access to while shopping. Behind the bathroom begins the shelves where the products are stored. The shelf directly behind the bathrooms is the third smallest shelf in the store. To the side of that shelf is the longest shelf in the whole store. It runs almost the entire length of the store. There are then shelves in the middle of my store. These shelves in the middle are five feet in width, eight feet in base height, and seventy feet in length. The end of these shelves consist of four vertical shelves in which consist of a five foot width, an eight foot base height, and a forty one foot length. Each of these vertical shelves in length are almost equivalent to three horizontal shelves. To the side of the vertical shelves is one long shelve. This shelf consists of almost the entire store. Towards the back of the store there is one shelf that is larger the than the other normal sized shelves. It is slighlty lnger in its length. Behind that shelf is five shelves that are atached to the back wall. These shelves are broken up by four doors that lead to the back of the store. The back of the store consists of ten shleves that are five feet in width, eight feet in base height, and sixty two feet in length. There are a few other shelves in the back side if the door.
